JEAN BAPTISTE JEAN

(1953 - )

A series of paintings with angels and devils are poetic fables, reflecting a religious interest. Jean’s teacher was Philome Obin and he became associated with the Centre d’Art earty in his career. Famous among the Cap-Haitien school of contemporary artists, he is consistent and original, whether portraying scenes of realism or spirituality. Jean has had exhibitions in France, Germany, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Currently in jail for the shooting of a policeman, the artist faces the biggest challenge of his life - to survive.
