Diobolo Bossou
While the somewhat tattered and worn border of this flag indicates use, collectors can be assured of perfection in the area of the sequins and beads. The border can be hidden, if you like, with a wood frame. But there are other collectors who appreciate the rawness of the way it was found. The “diobolo bossou” is a devil bull, a male spirit indicating hostility and aggression, but also determination in overcoming obstacles. This complicated visual narrative takes some digestion. It is a fine example of Rockville’s seldom-seen work.
