Dambala Ouedo
The serene turquoise satin cloth employed by Bazile to represent the twin snakes of Dambala, the male, and his consort Ayida Oeudo (abbreviated on the flag for reasons of space) signifies their connection with water and springs. Life-giving water sustains people and animals and nourishes crops to feed them, so the domain of the snakes is very important. Between them is a large white egg, a favorite food of the snakes, who are co-equals in Vodou.
