Marasa Guinin
The veve or symbolic design of the Marassa or twins, the sacred children of God, is portrayed by Bazile, one of the flag medium’s undisputed living masters. Any multiplicity of birth, whether twins, triplets or quadruplets, is a cause for celebration in Haiti. The Marassa can be tricksters, true to the naturally mischievous nature of children. The word Guinin refers to their homeland of Guinea in Africa.
