Giraffe with Three Birds
With its long neck and trio of bird companions, this giraffe has an upbeat demeanor. Leaf-like patterns on his skin are delineated through tiny punch marks. The whole artwork, created from one piece of recycled metal oil drum that has been meticulously cut rather than soldered together, is a remarkable example of what Haitians can do with discarded materials. A fine example of this under-sung medium of Haitian art.
