Any multiplicity of birth is considered good luck in Haiti, as the twin girls on this voodoo flag signify. They are the marassa, the first children of God, with playful even tricksterish personalities. With arms linked, these Vodou spirits are kindred souls. But as twins like to do, they try to differentiate themselves so one wears pants while the other wears a dress.
